William George Mikesell, 80, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing in Newton. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 6th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
William, the son of Columbus Griffith and Olive Lucinda (Clark) Mikesell, was born June 16, 1931 at Red Rock near Knoxville, Iowa. William served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
On March 10, 1956, William was united in marriage with Fayetta "Ruth" Vander Linden. William worked for the Maytag Company, retiring May 31, 1978.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth on June 30, 20005; his brothers, Huff and Roy Mikesell; a sister in infancy; and a great grandson, Ethan Mikesell.
Those left to honor William's memory include his sons: Jack Ira Mikesell, William Griffith (Stacy) Mikesell, Randall Clark (Donna) Mikesell; his grandchildren: Randall C. Mikesell, Jr., Alisha Johnson (Tony O'Neill), Landan K. Mikesell, Gunner Mikesell, Meyessa Mikesell, Stephanie Mikesell; step grandsons, Eric Roberts, Jeremy Roberts; his great grandchildren, Jordan Boles, Alexis Boles, Achilles O'Neill, Odan O'Neill, Leah Johnston, Nicholas Mikesell, Gracey Mikesell, Danny Mikesell and his many friends.
