Obituary of Anna Flavena Mallory

Flavena,95, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, in Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Graveside Service and interment for Flavena will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, Veteran's Section of Newton Union Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton. In lieu of flowers memorials in Flavena's name are being designated.
Anna Flavena Mallory, the daughter of Emmett and Jessie Olive (Carbaugh) Hewitt, was born July 26, 1916, in Hedrick, IA. She was a high school graduate.
In 1938, Flavena was united in marriage with James Wesley Mallory. She had devoted her life to her husband, children and family, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, making quilts and loved spending time with her family.
Flavena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; son-in-law Ron Hunt Sr.; three grandchildren: Ronald Hunt Jr., Tersha Kay Ingle and Wendy Welcher; six brothers: Arlo, Roscoe, Donald, Elwood, Rex and Cecil Hewitt; and her sister Eloise Hewitt.
Those left to honor Flavena's memory include her son James Emmett Mallory of Newton; daughters: Illa Jeannine (Larry) Ingle of Newton, Anna Virginia (Jack) Perrin of Newton and Sharon Kaye Hunt of Altoona; her sixteen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and thirty-three great-great grandchildren; her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Kathy Hewitt of Monroe and Keith and Cathy Hewitt of Floris; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Lucille and Junior Hootman of Floris, Virginia Ashmore of Ottumwa, Mary Alyce McSparen of Eddyville, and Janice and Francis Sullivan of Newton; and many friends.
