Bob's children will not remember the Stevens family that lived directly behind them on West 6th St. S. Kristy will.
Virginia, Bob and Kristy's mom was very good friends with my mom, Mary. I believe my dad went pheasant hunting with Bob's parents, Kirby and Virginia. They were just the best neighbors ever. When they had the casket shop, my mom sewed for them for a while.
I belive we have pictures of Bob and Kristy in a swing in our back yard. I remember Bob always having a smile and also having a twinkle in his eye. I remember Kristy as a bit of a thing with pigtails.
Both were just the cutest kids.
So sorry that I married, moved away and lost touch with this family that was such a part of our lives for several years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!!
Blessings

grandpa Bob was my softball coach we were the best team in the league he would sit beside the fence and hit his cain on the fence and yell out to me every time i was up to bat he would yell "hit it in the galcho"!!! and i would just smile everytime!! And do what he said of course!! He made every game a successful one and he was always full of laughter and sarcasm and made us all feel like we were playing in a world series game giving us the low down and teaching us how to be the best we could be. I idolize bob and i always will he was always hard working and knew our stats better than we could ever know! He made every game a success and i am thankful for every moment of ever softball season!!! Bob however, was more than just a coach and a mentor he was my friend and always will be i love bob as my grandpa and (he looked like willie nelson) :) I cant belive i didnt get to see him recently!! And that he is really gone. But i will again some day, some day in the future!!! He will always be remembered in my heart and soul as long as i live i love you grandpa bob!!!! You are the best love always (#8 for smiths tax service) Jara RIP Grandpa bob!!!!!!!

A fellow classmate at NSHS who always had time for a smile and a quick wink of an eye as we passed through the halls; an athlete who lived for next the football season and a friend who was always there to cheer me up during those hard years of High School.
My most sincere condolences during this time of remembrances to all of Bob’s family and many friends.

I am sorry to hear about your Dad! I have known Bob since Junior and Senior High School. He was a very nice person to know. Little did I know we would be neighbors in later years! He moved into the an apartment next to my house on 4th Ave E. We had a lot of visits and I remember him standing out side waiting for your mother to pick him up to go to the ball games! Keep all the memories in your heart and God Bless you all. The ones I have of him being an all round athelete for Newton School are good ones.
Rona, tell your Mother "Hello" for me!

On a snowey December evening in 1969, at my house, I first met you. I gave you your bottle. I 've been with you everyday since then, the good or bad, whether you knew it or not. Well now more years have past than I wanted to accept. Things have come and gone. Some good and some bad and more changes than anyone could ever expected. Rona, there is on CONSTANT, I'm still there as I was on that snowy December night in 1969.
Peace~n~love,
DAD
(one of the many letters my dad wrote to me.) Some of you may not know this but Dad told me when he first met me, he fell in love with me when I was 3 months old. Then he adopted me. I am very proud of my dad he was my world. Now I hope I can put in my special memory I have and then when I went through his letters I found the same memory he had.
To My Daughter,
I am sending you this picture from tonights paper. I sae it and went back 30 years, look at the picture- close your eyes and try to remember "walking the River" -You,Heather, your mom, Your Anut Kris and me. It ws a special day. Later that summer we walked a creek on to Mariposa road and found a dying beaver, we had a back pack that I sewed and made out of an old pair of my jeans and the toilet paper I brought was trailing out of it. I hope you remember walking in the water and the sand. If you don't , It's ok, the memory is still there waiting to be keyed.
THANKS FOR BEING MY DAUGHTER,
LOVE,
DADDY
Also, my dad could tell a story that most could say in 5 minutes but dad would make it way longer... as I just did with the letters he wrote me.
My Dad was the wises man I ever knew. He always had a answer for me or he would tell me something to help me figure out on my own. I will end this with something he said to me one day. Today is yesterdays tomorrow. Can your figure it out?
I LOVE YOU DADDY AND I WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH. I AM PROUD TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER AND THE MEMORIES OF ALL THE YEARS I COACHED SOFTBALL AND YOU WERE THE SCORE KEEPER. WE WERE OUT AT THOSE FIELDS RAIN OR SHINE!
You were my best friend too!
PEACE~N~LOVE,

I have so many memories of Bob that there's not enough space on here to write them all. We grew up together living next door but the earliest memory I have of him is trying to raise homing pigeons in his backyard. What a mess! We had alot of fun though. Then I remember he and my dad took me out in a fishing boat at Rock Creek and told me to jump out because they wanted me to learn how to swim! (I don't think so!!) I look back now and laugh. Then I remember how he was always there for me to help me with my pitching for softball for many years. He would also make wooden stilts for me and himself and we'd try to race on them but never finish without crashing. Even as time passed and we both grew older, we remained close. He got married and I always babysat for them. In fact, I remember once I got into his bar and got totally drunk(after the girls went to sleep) and he and Carol came home and Bob held my head while I "worshipped the porcelain god",helped me sober up then took me home. (I'm so sorry about that Rona but I was a teenager and stupid). He was the kindest and gentlest man I think I've ever known and once you were friends with him, it was for life. I lost touch with him for many years but even now my heart is breaking having just found out that God took him home, but I'll always keep him alive in my thoughts and memories. And whenever I think of him, I'll smile. Bob,please know that you have touched so many peoples' hearts and you will be missed terribly. You can be proud of the family you created! "Good bye my friend"..........

Hi Dad,
This is a happy note to you today, I was thinking of you and I am so happy that the stone is done. I miss you daily, but now with a smile, I have made the CHOICE to smile and accept the fact that you are gone and there is nothing I can do about it and being sad, crying, wasn't working for me. So, I have finally just accepted the circle of life. This is the first time I have been on here without crying. I love you and miss you, a friend of mine has been sent your way and I believe you met her when we went to the bar, Angie so give her your famous "PEACE~N~LOVE" sign for me.
Love Always,
COACH SKOW!
