Obituary of Eric Paul Swank

Eric Paul Swank, 37, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011, at his home in Newton. Funeral services for Eric will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the Newton Church of The Way conducted by Steve Heerema. A visitation with the family will be held Monday, August 8, at 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eric's name are being designated to The American Diabetes Association. Eric, the son of Norman Swank and Darlene (Cossel) Swank, was born on July 2, 1974, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He had attended PCM Schools in Monroe. A lifelong resident of the Jasper County area, Eric had worked with his dad and brothers at Swank's Custom Cabinets and Hardware in Reasnor. Eric devoted his life to his family and friends, and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, kids, and his dog Bella. Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Those left to honor Eric's memory include his mother Darlene Swank of Newton; his father Norman (Karol) Swank of Reasnor; his sister Lynnae (Jim) Osterson of Paton, IA; brothers: Calvin (Debbie) Swank of Newton, Shawn Swank of Newton, Chad (Ami) Swank of Newton and Mark (fianc Callie) Swank of Reasnor; maternal grandmother Lucille Cossel of Reasnor; step-sisters: Alisa (David) Jordan of Newton and Rondi (Kevin) Kaminski of Clarinda, IA; and his many nieces, nephews and friends.
