Donald E. Jones
Funeral services for Donald will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation with the family will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 26th at the funeral home.. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Memorials have been designated to Skiff Hospice and United Presbyterian Church Radio Fund.
Donald Edward Jones, 82, the son of Charles E. Jones and Alice A. Hesson was born June 5, 1929, on the family farm in Clear Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa. In March 1936, Donald moved with his parents to Newton, where he attended Newton Schools. On July 11, 1948, in Newton, Iowa, Donald was united in marriage to Ruth A. Queen.
Donald worked as District Superintendent of the former Iowa Southern Utilities Company for 42 years, retiring in June 1992. Donald was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Jasper County Historical Society, IBEW Local #735, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and formerly served many years on the City of Newton Electrical Board. Donald loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gardening and traveling.
Donald died in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton on Saturday, July 23, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers C. Eugene Jones, Jerald E. Jones and Harry E. Jones and one sister Wanda E. Jones.
Those left to honor the memory of Donald include his wife Ruth A. Jones of Newton, daughters and son-in-law Kathy A. Jones of Newton and Nancy (Jay) Kettering of Littleton, Colorado, grandson Matthew (Greta) Moshiri of Houston, Texas, great-grandson Finn Edward Moshiri, sisters-in-law Kathryn "Katie" Jones of Newton and Twila Jones of Three Rivers, Michigan, special friends Kris Macy of Newton and Nasrin Moshiri and her sons George Ahmadi and Donni Ahmadi all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
