Obituary of Michael Francis Brindza

A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, with Father William Reynolds and Deacon Dan Goetz officiating. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the church. In Lieu of flowers: Memorials are being designated in Michael's name. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Michael Francis Brindza, 57, the son of Francis Michael and Mary Lou (Depperman) Brindza, was born December 8, 1953, in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, and later attended college in Kansas. Mike had served his country in the United Sates Navy during the Vietnam war.
Mike was retired from working construction in Kansas. He had devoted her life to his family, and was a member of the American Legion Post in Gardner, Kansas. Mike enjoyed all animals, gardening, Harley motorcycles, all nature, the outdoors, music and politics.
Mike died Saturday, July 9, 2011, in the Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joe and Edna Depperman; and Michael, Anna, and Florence Brindza.
Those left to honor the memory of Mike's include his sons: Michael James (Alecia) Brindza of Paola, KS, Jason Carl (Summer) Brindza of Stafford, VA and Shawn Mathue (Amanda) Brindza of Carlisle, IA; six grandchildren: Michael "Mikie", Ashley, Ian, Trinity, Cordelia and Bishop Rose; his parents Francis M. and Mary Lou Brindza of Newton; sisters: Linda (Greg) O'Toole of Athens, IL, Pat (Dave) Hoff, Carol (Bryan) Cook-Blaha and Barb (Mike) Mickelson, all of Newton; and his many nieces, nephews and friends.
