Obituary of Megan Olivia Hoogeveen

Megan Olivia Hoogeveen, the daughter of Michael Jay Hoogeveen and Teresa Rae (Schnell) Schippers, was born December 30, 1992 in Pella, Iowa. Megan graduated from the Pella Christian School with the class of 2011. Megan's heart was to help others. She always enjoyed and looked for areas of service and projects in which to be involved. She enjoyed her activities at school with Caleb Crew, with music, as an editor for the Eagle's Cry and with photography. She loved her dog, Zoey, and would always be ready for a trip to the mall. Megan passed away from Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was 18 years old. Those left to honor Megan's memory include her parents, Mike Hoogeveen of Sully, Iowa and Teresa (Todd) Schippers of New Sharon, Iowa; her brother, Benjamin, of West Des Moines and his fiancé, Allisyn Skiles of Carlisle, Iowa; her paternal grandparents, Stan and Clara Hoogeveen of Sully, Iowa; her maternal grandparents, Rolland and Donna Schnell of Sully, Iowa; her maternal great grandparents, Robert and Gertrude Schnell of Sully, Iowa and Ethel Mumm of Lynnville, Iowa and her many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Sully Christian Reformed Church. Friends may call at the Church after 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 1st. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be designated to the HLH Foundation or to the Pella Christian High School Foundation and may be left at the church. The family would also encourage you to make a blood donation to your local blood bank in memory of Megan.
