Benjamin "Ben" Snyder Webster City Benjamin Jack Snyder,, 82, formerly of Newton, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Crestview Manor in Webster City. Private Graveside services will be held July 22, 2011, in Newton. Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ben's name are being designated, and can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. Ben, the son of Harry Ottis and Maude Mable (Reynolds) Snyder, was born October 4, 1928, in Garden Grove. He was a graduate of the Baxter High School, Class of 1946. Ben served his country at the end of World War II as a Corporal, with the United States Marine Corps. He had lived in Baxter, and had moved to Newton. In 1974, he moved to Webster City, when he took a job as Webster City Post Master, retiring in 1989. On Sept. 17, 1950, Ben was united in marriage with Joyce Trotter at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. He devoted his life to his family, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, Masonic Lodges in Newton and Webster City, American Field Service in Newton, where he was area representative for ten years and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines. He enjoyed traveling with Joyce and his family. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Deborah Lou Reed in 1984. Those left to honor Ben's memory include his wife Joyce of Webster City; grandson Austin Reed of Peosta; his sisters: Joanne Austad of Newton and Margie Griffin of Plano, TX; his brother Jim Snyder of Naples, FL; his nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
