Obituary of Donald Dean Wickliff

Donald Dean Wickliff, Jr., the son of Donald D. and Mary Mae (Garrett) Wickliff, was born October 27, 1928, in Colfax. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School. Don had served his country with the United States Army. He was employed as a over the road truck driver and retired from the Maytag Company.
On November 24, 1950, Donald was united in marriage with Mary Lou Shepherd in Monroe. He devoted his life to his family, and was a Life Member of the Newton American Legion Post #111, Moose Lodge and a founder of the Newton Archery Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing for catfish, hunting mushrooms, bow hunting and the outdoors.
Don died Saturday, May 21, 2011, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 82 years old. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Lou on July 21, 1994, a granddaughter Teila; a daughter-in-law Susan Wickliff; and a brother-in-law Bob Mouchka.
Those left to honor Donald's memory include his sons: Daniel G. (Marilyn) Wickliff, Terry L. (Jane) Wickliff, Charles D. Wickliff and Mark J. (Wendy) Wickliff, all of Newton; his 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; his sisters: Betty (Donnie) Waddle of Monroe, Mary Lou DeHaai of Monroe, Jane Mouchka of Newton and Judy (Terry) Bradley of Newton; his brothers: Harold (Vada) Wickliff of Newton, Dave (Cindy) Wickliff of CA, Bill Wickliff of Newton and Jim (Carol) Wickliff of CA; many nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
