Janet L. “Jan” Plumb
Janet “Jan” went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024, at her home in rural Newton, under the care of Hospice.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 2:00p.m., Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation with the family will be 1:00p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Monday, with the burial in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira. In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated in Jan’s name.
Janet L. “Jan” Plumb, 88, was born October 18, 1935, in Newton, the daughter of Milton and Edith (Watkins) Van Cleave. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she had attended Newton Schools. She was known by many as Ma Plumb.
On January 7, 1950, Jan was united in marriage to William Milo “Bill” Plumb, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Jan had devoted her life to her family, as a homemaker and mother. She worked for the Maytag Dairy Farm, of which she was very proud of. She was a member of the Newton First Assembly of God Church, Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed dancing. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved Jesus and enjoyed giving out hugs.
Jan is survived by her children and their families: Linda (Robert) Randazzo, Rita Ham, David (Donna) Plumb, Johnathan (Angie) Plumb, and daughter-in-law Kimberley Plumb, her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sister Vicki Kling; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Bill; and a son William “Billy” Plumb.
