Obituary of Johnny H. Diedrich

Johnny H. Diedrich, the son of Jack Arnold Diedrich and Marion Calloway, was born October 25, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He lived in Des Moines and was united in marriage to Mary Palmer on October 22, 1983 in Milo, Iowa. They lived in southern California several years before returning to Newton, Iowa where they have lived the past 30+ years. Johnny was an excellent mechanic and salesman. He spent many hours in his garage working on cars, playing cards with his friends and listening to music. Johnny loved his family, but he adored his grandchildren. On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Johnny died at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor the memory of Johnny include his wife, Mary of Newton, daughters and sons-in-law, Roni (Chad) Schroeder of Winterset, Iowa, Mary Ann Bertrand of Newton, Iowa, Virjene Perales of Newton, Iowa, and Dianna Hernandez Lopez of Colfax, Iowa, ten grandchildren and spouses Ashley, Beth (Alex), Koby (Ashley), John (Katie), Sierra, Christa (Tanner), Craig, Selena, Christian and Mia, 14 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Josh, Dominic, Karly, Aubrey, Matthew, Peyton, Aria, Jameson, Zea, Ian, Laney, Skylar and Maevie and his sister, Ronda Shiner of Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services for Johnny will be held on April 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa. A visitation with the family present will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Memorials in Johnny's name (Payable to Mary Diedrich) may be left at the funeral home.
