Obituary of Sharla Kay Oswalt

Sharla Kay Oswalt, the daughter of Glen Woodrow and Josephine Joy (Burnett) Oswalt, was born July 1, 1956, in Newton, Iowa.  She attended Newton schools.  Sharla worked at Younker’s Department Store in the gift-wrapping area.  She retired from Skiff Medical Center, where she had worked in the custodial department.

Sharla loved her family and enjoyed their time spent together.  She was a collector of elephants and angels, and she enjoyed listening to music, especially Snoop Dog, dancing, and sweet treats.

Sharla died on Friday, January 12, 2024, at her home in Newton.  She was 67 years old.  Sharla was preceded in death by her father, Glen and a son, Ryan Peters.

Those left to honor Sharla’s memory include her son, Brice (Kristen) Peters and their son, Calvin; her daughter Mia (Trevor) Senclair and their daughters, Elise (Vincent) Bennett and their son, Waylon, and Adalynn Senclair; her mother, Joy Oswalt; her sister, Glenna (Gene) Patterson and her many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 19^th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21^st at the funeral home.  In leu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Sharla’s name.  Please make checks payable to Mia Senclair and may be left at the funeral home.
