Obituary of Wanda LaVon Trease
Wanda LaVon Trease, 95, the daughter of Loyal Wellington and Verna Faye (Robinson) Emerson, was born November 12, 1928, near Winterset, Iowa. She attended the Winterset Community Schools. and graduated from the Grinnell Senior High School, Class of 1953.
On September 4, 1951, Wanda was united in marriage to Francis Gerald Trease in Omaha, Neb.. She had lived in Winterset, Des Moines, IA Kellogg, IA, and then Newton since 1962.
Wanda was employed at Kellogg Manufacturing as a press operator and welder. Employed at Dunlap’s in Newton, as a painter, material cutter and in assembly. She was a member of the Ashton Chapel Church in rural Mingo, IA
Wanda died on Saturday morning November 25, 2023, at Newton Health Care. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Francis on February 5, 2001
The Pence~Reese Funeral Home, in Newton, is handling the arrangement. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration Life may be held at a later date.
Those left to honor the memory of Wanda include her daughters: Juanita (Jesse) Medellin of Independence, IA and Eurita Trease of Newton; her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her brothers: Harold (Kathy) Emerson, Clarence Emerson and Robert Lee (Francene) Emerson; her sisters: Donna Duff and Evelyn Sliker; several nieces and nephews; and her many extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Wanda’s family or a charity of your choosing.
