Obituary of Dixie Lee Decker

Dixie Lee Decker 75, passed away Monday evening, April 11, 2011, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Family Graveside services and burial will be Friday, at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements and Rev. Gary Marzolf will conduct the services. A visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, April 14, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials in Dixie's name are being designated to: Camp Hertko Hollow Juvenile Diabetes Camp, Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing or First United Methodist Church.
Dixie, the daughter of Robert "Glen" and Dorothy Irene (Matheny) Temple, was born November 26, 1935, in Kellogg, Iowa. A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she graduated from the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1954.
On October 1, 1960, Dixie was united in marriage with Steven L. Decker at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. She was employed at Jasper County Savings Bank for 34 years. She retired in 1994 as an Assistant Cashier/Supervisor of the Bookkeeping and Accounting Department. She had devoted her life to her husband, children and family, and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and numerous banking organizations.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Steven on February 26, 2008.
Those left to honor Dixie's memory include her son and daughter-in-law: Craig and Josepha Decker of St. Charles, IL; her daughter and son-in-law: Diana and Kevin Deaton of Otley; four grandchildren: Laurel (David) Collins of Houston, TX, Steven T. Decker of St. Charles, IL, Callie and Bridger Deaton, both of Otley; two brothers: Richard (Sharon) Temple of Newton and Darrell (Judy) Temple of Azle, Texas; her nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
Calling hours will be Thursday with the family from 5 - 7pm at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The Private funeral will be Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Marzolf officiating.
