Kurt and I were shipmates on the USS Dace, and my strongest memory of him was his smile and joyful personality. It was always good just to be around him. He was a great sailor, shipmate, and friend. While he is gone way too soon and and will be sorely missed Heaven has gained a wonderful angel. Prayers to his family and friends who were Blessed to have him for so long. Fair Winds and Following Sea’s my friend. Reese

Q: How did you meet Kurt? A: I met Kurt when we both served on the USS Dace (SSN 607) and he was held in high regard by his shipmates. His work while on submarine duty was important to the defense of the country and it was a privilege to serve alongside him. Kurt will always be considered a brother to all submariners and especially to those who served with him on the Dace.

I have so many memories. But one of my favorites is years ago I and my wife Jody use to go out with Kurt and meri for Chinese. I and Kurt would sit there and eat egg rolls coverd in hot mustard, hardly able to breathe or talk. Jody and Meri would look across the table and ask "why do you do that to your selves?" Kurt and I in a forced raspy voice replied in unison "Because it's so good ". I really miss those days.
