Obituary of Deborah Joy Conover

Deborah Joy Conover, the daughter of Bruce Thomas and Norma Jean (Schmidt) Conover, was born May 16, 1953.  She attended Lynnville-Sully Schools.  Debbie loved animals, especially rabbits, horses, and her special dog, Goldie.  She enjoyed crocheting, playing games, watching people, and going on car rides.  Debbie especially loved all her Progress Industries family.

Debbie died on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at her home in Newton.  She was 69 years old.  Debbie was preceded in death by her father, her brother, David Conover and two siblings in infancy.

Those left to honor Debbie’s memory include her mother, Norma Jean Conover; her sisters, Ruth (Marlo) Jansen and Laurie Conover and her many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Debbie’s life will be Thursday, January 26, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sully Community Church in Sully, Iowa.  Memorials may be designated to Progress Industries and may be left at the funeral home. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Progress Industries and Hospice of Pella for their care of Debbie.

Heaven’s Special Child

 A meeting was held quite far from earth – It’s time again for another birth.

Said the Angels to the Lord above – This special child will need much love.

His progress may seem very slow and he’ll require extra care –

Accomplishments he may not show from the folks he meets, way down there.

He may not run or laugh or play – His thoughts may seem quite far away.

In many ways he won’t adapt – And he’ll be known as handicapped.

So let’s be careful where he’s sent – We want his life to be content.

Please, Lord, find the parents who – Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away – The leading role they’re asked to play.

 But with this child sent from above – Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they’ll know the privilege given – In caring for this gift from Heaven.

Their precious charge so meek and mild – Is Heaven’s very special child!
