Obituary of James L. Weldon

A time of fellowship and a memorial services
for James L. Weldon, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, formerly of the Newton area, will
be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, at the Christ United
Methodist Church, 708-15 th Street, in Belle Plaine. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
at the Church. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been
entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials in Jims name are being
designated; to Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy; Christ United Methodist Church or
to the Belle Plaine Ambulance.
James L. Weldon, 70, the son of Lloyd Reuben
and Elsie Mae (Kleinendorst) Weldon, was born September 7, 1938 in Newton. He was a graduate of Newton Senior High,
Class of 1957
In 1960, Jim was united in marriage with
Linda Vee Owens. Linda would precede him
in death. Jim was employed by Winpower
Manufacturing in Newton, for fifteen years.
On March 6, 1976, Jim was united in marriage with Cindy Jolene Routier
in Grinnell. They would live in the
Montezuma area until 1979, when they moved to Belle Plaine. He was employed by Iowa Plants-Dieomatic;
Magna International in Montezuma, for thirty years; Traer Manufacturing in
Traer and Benco Manufacturing in Belle Plaine.
He had devoted his life to his wife, children, family and friends, and
enjoyed fishing, gardening, the outdoors, his work, pool, guns and shooting
targets.
Jim died on Wednesday afternoon, May 27,
2009 at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and
his first wife.
Those left to honor Jims memory include his
wife of 33 years, Cindy of Belle Plain; his daughter Traci L. Weldon (Brian Sims)
of Newton; sons: Jeff Weldon (Cynthia Avery) of Newton, Jason (Melissa) Weldon
of Sparks, NV and Justin Weldon of Coralville, IA; six grandchildren: Jimmy
J.R. Weldon, Jace Weldon, Joshua Sims, Crystal Sims, Elizabeth Sims and
Nathan Sims; a great-grandchild Alexis; a sister Barbara James of Anacortes, Washington;
his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Mary Ruth and Lyle Routier of Newburg, IA;
brotherin-laws and sisters-in-law: Marj (Art) Smith and Connie (Darrel) Lamb,
all of Grinnell; Larry (Irma) Dye of Livonia, Missouri and Roger (June) Routier
of Gilman, IA;: several nieces and nephews; and his many great friends.
