Obituary of Jerry Lee Van Der Leest

Jerry Lee Van Der Leest, 77, of Newton, died Sunday, January 16, 2022, from complications of COVID.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jerry, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Van Der Leest, was born January 25, 1944.  As part of a military family, Jerry went to elementary schools in Newton, Japan, California, Germany and Georgia.  Returning to Newton for 7 through 12, Jerry  graduated Senior High School with the class of 1962.  On October 11, 1972, Jerry married Arlene, the love of his life.  Jerry retired from the Maytag Company in Newton after 30 years.  Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Arlene.  He is survived by two brothers and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
