Mrs. McGinn holds such a special place in my heart! I enjoyed my time in her 3rd grade class so much that when I was given the opportunity in junior high to go over and help her with her class, I took it, twice! She always remembered me when I would see her at the store and would give me a hearty, "Hello, Dawn! How are you!" My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. Please know, she touched so many lives!

Marilou was the first person I met when I moved to Newton 16 1/2 years ago. She was my neighbor & good friend. Always ready for a nice coversation & shooting the breeze. She & Paul saw me thru many rough waters, from losing my house completely by a devestating fire and a rather lengthy illness. She was a loving friend & I will miss her...

Jeanne and Paul. Paul, I see in the obituary that you and Marilou were married in 1955. I suppose that was when I first got to know Marilou. She always made a point of visiting with me when any of our families got together and was always most friendly and kind. I often visited with you and Marilou at your home in Netwon and often stayed over a night or two. I always felt welcome. I recall driving down one time unannounced and spending a couple of days and nights at your place...I think I just needed to get away. I even attended school with Marilou on one of the days and sat in on some of her classes. Over the years, Marilou became one of my wife Cathy's favorite relatives as well...she always enjoyed her company. We are both saddened by her death and will miss her being with us...she was one of a kind. She is in our prayers!

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember how she would call me Graham Cracker. Most people stopped doing that when I grew up. Not Marilou. If Ian and I were together, instead of calling us by name (because, like most people, she would have gotten us mixed up) it was always "you boys". Classic Marilou. I remember Marilou being very involved with Matt and Tony and was also an extended Grandma to all their friends. In all the years I worked at Hy-Vee, she always made a point to find me and say hello. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
