Obituary of Adrena Van Zee

Adrena Van Zee, of Newton, IA, passed away Sunday evening, January 10, 2021, at Nelson Manor Health Care in Newton, IA. Adrena "Andi" Van Zee, 84, the daughter of John and Adrianna (Vanden Bos) Meyerink, was born September 15, 1936, in Platte, South Dakota. She was a graduate of the Platte Senior High, Class of 1953. On July 8, 1955, Andi was united in marriage with Edwin Dean Van Zee, formerly of New Holland, South Dakota. To this union three sons were born, Cary, Brad and Eric. She enjoyed her family and devoted her life to them. She was employed at the Newton Clinic as a receptionist, retiring after twenty-two years. Andi was a member of the Newton Christian Reformed Church, the Newton Christian School Ladies Bible Study and Mary Martha Bible Study. Andi was preceded in death by her parents; her son Eric Jon Van Zee; her In-laws: Engel and Dena Van Zee; her sisters: Leona Ringling, Martha Munneke and Wilma Hasseler; and her brothers: Harlow Meyerink and Bertus Meyerink. Those left to honor Andi's memory include her husband Ed Van Zee of Newton; her sons: Cary Van Zee of Kellogg and Brad (Candy) Van Zee of Newton; a daughter-in-law Colleen Van Zee of Victor; her sisters: Lillian Beukelman of Sioux Falls, SD and Mickey Zwagerman of Bozeman, Montana; a sister-in-law Rose Meyerink of Chicago, IL; her step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren: along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A public visitation will be 10 a.m. until 12 noon, Monday, January 18, 2021, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will not be present at the visitation and MASKS are required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Newton Christian School. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
