Shirley was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, but especially to me. When Richard developed Gullian Barre syndrome, and couldn't move or walk for several months, I didn't know how I could survive. The Lord brought Shirley and George to mind, and I knew if they could go thru what they had to, we could do it also. I kept looking up to them every time we hit a new bump in the road to healing. I finally told Shirley this one Sunday in Church, and we both had a good laugh and tears. She was truly a woman of God and that wheelchair didn't stop her from serving the Lord. Thank you, Shirley, for all you have done with your life. You received your reward from the Lord, and are singing His Praises still. Thank you, Lord, for bringing her into our lives.

I considered Shirley my friend and spiritual mentor beginning shortly after I trusted Christ in Lincoln, Nebraska. Shirley faithfully came to my dorm room every week to teach me from the Bible, scripture memory and the basics of walking with the Lord. She made sure I continued to grow as a believer when I moved to Omaha for my Pediatrics rotation by connecting me with her sister, Fern.
Shirley faithfully followed the Lord even after the automobile accident left her physically limited to her wheelchair. The Lord used the skills of her husband, George, to adapt cars, devices so that she could continue ministering to others.
Truly a faithful servant, she is rejoicing in His presence now. She has heard His voice welcome her with "Well done....well done!"
