Joanne and girls, I was so very sorry to hear about Ron's death. I did not know him well, but I can understand your sadness and loss as I lost my husband the same week. I know you all have a storehouse of wonderful memories. May He hold you in the palm of His hand. Karen Hoffmeier

I have always loved having Ron, a kind and gentle person, in my life even if I didn’t see him as much during my adult years -- I always knew he was there. I loved that he kept in close contact with my mother Dorothy (his sister) through the years. Although Ron was technically my uncle, he felt more like a brother or cousin when we were children since he was only 3 years older than my brother Paul and 6 years older than I was. Ron was a bit of a late surprise for his parents (my grandparents Marie – she chose to go by her middle name -- and Glenn). When Ron was born, his sister Dorothy (my mother) was 22 and about to be married to my dad. During my childhood, my parents took us to Chariton every-other weekend to visit the grandparents and Ron, regardless of rain, snow, sleet, etc. (and yes, one year we did slide off the road, but got towed back onto the highway and continued on to Chariton). We children played together by their country house and the big cherry tree. We always loved our visits to the grandparents in Chariton, and during some summers I stayed with them for a week or two to have extra time with them. All very good people. These memories are precious to me. I hope everyone who knew Ron has fond memories of him to keep in their hearts and minds.
