Obituary of Jeanette Jean Van Brogen

Jeanette Jean Van Brogen, 77, passed away Monday morning, November 22, 2010, at Nelson Manor Care Center in Newton. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who have been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be held an hour prior to the services, 9:30 a.m. until service time. In LIEU of flowers: Memorials in Jean's name are being designated.
Jean, the daughter of Raymond Lathey and Mabel Ellen (Bemisdarfer) Miller, was born August 26, 1933, in Oskaloosa. She had attended Oskaloosa schools.
On April 15, 1950, Jean was united in marriage with Donald Gene Van Brogen in Fairfield. She was employed in dietary and house keeping jobs at the Newton Country Club and Jasper County Care Facility. She devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Mt. Zion Church and Reasnor United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, cards, marbles, bingo and her family.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don on July 19, 1993; and four brothers: Robert, Leroy, Gerald and Melvin.
Those left to honor Jean's memory include her sons: Danny (Rhonda) Van Brogen of Reasnor, Gary (Deb) Van Brogen of Newton, Daryl (Pam) Van Brogen of Sully, Tim (Cheryl) Van Brogen of Colfax and Les (Brenda) Van Brogen of Newton; her ten grandchildren: Brian (Nicole) Van Brogen, Brad (Mendy) Van Brogen, Shanna Van Brogen, Marsha Oswalt, Alisha (Ryan) Stock, Diane (Matt) Oswalt, Mandy (Shawn) Allen, Jerry (Amber) Van Brogen, Noella Van Brogen, and Chase Van Brogen; her eighteen great-grandchildren: Matthew, Dameon, Logan, Austen, Makayla, Meghan, Hailey, Hunter, Devon, Robert, Trenton, Tyler, Kohlton, Kyler, Brandon, Cameron, Dakota and Taja; her brothers and sisters: Dale (Lucille) Miller of TN, and Dutch (Alice) Miller of Oskaloosa, and Maxine Jordon of Taylor Ridge, IL and Joyce (Paul) Thompson of Pella; many nieces and nephews; and her many good friends.
