Obituary of Cathi Jo Thomas

Cathi Jo Thomas, the daughter of John J. and Phyllis J. (Marsh) Thomas, was born September 28, 1958 in Newton, Iowa.  She graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1978.

Cathi enjoyed her work opportunities through Progress Industries.  She cared deeply for her house mates at the Geisler House in Newton and enjoyed her time and friends at day hab.  She was involved in Special Olympics and loved to attend church camp.  Cathi was a longtime member of the Newton First United Methodist Church.

Cathi died on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Accura of Newton West.  She was 61 years old.  Cathi was preceded in death by her parents, her aunts, Norma Hodge, Shirley Gooden and Stella English and her uncles, Richard Marsh, Charles Thomas and Harry Thomas.

Those left to honor Cathi’s memory include her aunt, Hazel Van Ekenren; her uncle, Don (Virginia) Thomas; her many cousins; a special friend, Elsie Ulland and many other special friends.

A Facebook Broadcast of the Funeral service for Cathi will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2nd on the Pence Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page.

A public Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2nd at the Pence Reese Funeral Home.  Social distancing practices will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be made to Progress Industries, Special Olympics or the First United Methodist Church and may be left at the Pence Reese Funeral Home.
