Obituary of Michael Dean Ulrey

Michael D. Ulrey A time of celebration for Michael, and with his' family, will be 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Newton Salvation Army Hall. Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. In LIEU of flowers: memorials in Michael's name is being designated. Michael Dean Ulrey, 74, the son of Michael T. Ulrey and Urscelldine Ilo Crocker Ulrey, was born September 7, 1936 in Newton. A longtime resident of the Newton area, he was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School. On July 2, 1983, Michael was united in marriage with Dorothy Mills-Britton in Newton. He was employed by Brooker Inc. and Brookwood Inc., as a heating and air conditioning Technician. He had devoted his life to his family and friends. He enjoyed his pets, fishing, and working on and riding motorcycles. Michael died on Monday afternoon, November 15, 2010, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Richard; and two nephews. Those left to honor Michael's memory include his wife Dorothy; his sons: Scott (Dawn) Ulrey of Monroe, Casey (Tammi) Ulrey, Patric Ulrey and Douglas (Lynn) Ulrey, all of Newton; his daughters: Robin Goodman of Newton, Becky (Gary) Nolin of Monroe and Jennifer Peters of Newton; step-sons: Hank (Cindy) Britton and Ben Britton, all of Newton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Patty Winchell of Grinnell; his brothers: John (Connie) Ulrey and Virgil (Donna) Ulrey, all of Newton; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
