Obituary of Johannes Annee

Johannes “Joe” Annee’, 84, of Newton, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Newton Village Health Care Center.

There will be an open-visitation from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, April 20th at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, for those wishing to pay their respects.  The family will not be present.

A private family service for Joe will be held Tuesday.  A Facebook Live feed may be viewed on the Pence Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page. Tuesday morning at 10:30 am.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are being designated in Joe’s memory to Mercy Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.

Joe, the son of Albertus Annee” Sr. and Johanna (Kingma) Annee, was born April 7, 1936, in Leeuwarden, Holland.  He was a high school graduate and later attended a Trade School.

On April 4, 1958, Joe was united in marriage with Nancy Lee Holmes in Newton.  A longtime resident of the Newton area, he farmed for many years and was a tool and die maker.  Joe was a kind hearted gentleman, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.  He enjoyed music and wood working.  He crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture, over the years.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Annee’ on Dec. 6, 1997.

Those left to honor Joe’s memory include his wife, Nancy; his daughters, Debra Lynn Annee and Carla Jo (Gary) Thompson; his two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Albertus Annee, Jr.; and his many friends.
