Obituary of Joan Katherine Ihm

J. Katherine Ihm Katherine passed away on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2020, at her home at Park Centre in Newton. A Private Family celebration of life graveside service will be at Newton Union Cemetery, with the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Katherine's family, or to a charity of your choosing. Joan Katherine Ihm, 99, the daughter of William Albert and Berneda Mae (Whitten) Rietz, was born September 29, 1920, near Rowan, Iowa. She was a high school graduate and attended college three years. On September 29, 1940, Katherine was united in marriage with Marc Ihm in Rowan. Katherine had devoted her life to her husband, daughters and family, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Katherine is survived by her daughters: Marcia (Joe) Kelley of Norwalk and Carolyn (Bernard) DiMambro of Reading, Massachusetts; her four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and her good neighbors and friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Marc on Feb. 4, 1987.
