Gwendola M. Van Peursem Gwen passed away on Sunday morning, March 1, 2020, at the Newton Health Care. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Ashton Chapel, rural Mingo. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, are entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be at a coffee time following the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Gwen's family, or to a charity of your choosing. Gwendola M. Van Peursem, 74, the daughter of Vernie Mitchell and Sylvia Jane (Harvey) Cecil, was born June 4, 1945, in Hinton, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of the La Habra, CA, high school. Gwen was employed as an admitting supervisor at the Brea Hospital in California, moving to Newton in 2014. On February 12, 2017, Gwen was united in marriage with Ronald Van Peursem in Newton. She was a member of Ashton Chapel in rural Mingo, and enjoyed her family, road trips, nature and the simple things of life. Gwen is survived by her husband Ron; three sons: Rudy (Sarah) Yett, Kirby (Debbie) Yett and Tony (Linda) Yett; step-son Mike (Nancy) Van Peursem; her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister Jeannie (Steve) Struck; and many good neighbors and friends. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents.
