Obituary of Gwendolyn Kay Fortune

Gwendolyn K. Fortune Gwen Kay Fortune passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, in Des Moines, surrounded by her family. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, are entrusted with the arrangements. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2020, at the Newton American Legion Post #111. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Gwen's family, or to a charity of your choosing. Gwen was born November 24, 1962, in Frankfurt Germany, the daughter of Thomas L. and Monica N. (Lawler) Clark Sr. She grew up in New York state and moved to Newton, IA at the age of 16. Gwen was united in marriage to Don P. Fortune Jr. on March 11, 1980, in Colfax. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Bella. She had devoted her life to her husband, children and family. Gwen is survived by her husband Don Fortune; son Thomas Fortune; daughter Amanda (Ryan) Menninga; her grandchildren: Caden Menninga, Landon Menninga, and Brylei Fortune; her siblings: Terry (Carmella) Lucas of New York, Kenny Lucas of New York, Tom (Kim) Clark of Newton, Vince (Annette) Clark of Council Bluffs and Kathy Mulcahey of Des Moines; many nieces, nephews and friends.
