Obituary of Laura B Wickham

   Laura B. Wickham, 88, of Newton, passed away at Newton Health Care Center Thursday morning, February 20, 2020.  Laura was born January 10, 1932, to Roy and Marjorie (Harris) French.  She was one of four children, grew up on a farm West of Prairie City, where she graduated from the Prairie City high school. 

   Laura Belle was united in marriage with W.R.(Dick) Wickham, May 13, 1956, in Prairie City.  They lived in Newton where they raised their sons Greg and Doug.  Laura worked at Maytag a short time and later for Smith Rental in Newton, as a bookkeeper.  Laura enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball and could get into some passionate discussions about politics, which she followed very closely. 

   Laura is survived by her son Doug Wickham (Angie) of Ankeny; and her many friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband W.R. (Dick) on October 24, 2014; her son Greg; and her siblings: Bob, Lois, and Nan. Per her wishes there will be private service later.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the family, for the Disabled American Veterans, in her honor.
