Louis R. "Paul" Darrah, the son of Louis A. Darrah and Bernice Schmitz was born August 30, 1931 in Peoria, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. Paul returned to Newton and in 1958, joined the Newton Police Department and served as a Law Enforcement Officer until he retired in 1993. Paul enjoyed family, fishing, camping and racing dirt bikes. Paul is survived by sons, Louis W. (Kim) Deppe of Florida, Kevin (Donna) Deppe of Prole, Iowa, Donald (Janelle) Darrah of Newton, Iowa, Scott (Jenna) Breckenridge of Hiawatha, Iowa, daughters, Denise (Rickie) VandeStroet of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Paula Ingle of Grinnell, Iowa, 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, special friend, Sherri Breckenridge of Monroe, Iowa, sisters, Jean Holmes of Newton, Iowa, Gloria Daughtrey of Newton, Iowa, sister-in-law, Margaret Darrah of Defiance, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. Paul Darrah, 88, died on February 3, 2020, at Accura of Newton East. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Alan Darrah, grandson, Donald E. Darrah, sister, Darlene Acuna and brother, Duane Darrah.
