Georgann "Becky" Stanfield Georgann Roussos Stanfield, passed away on Tuesday January 28, at her home at Park Centre in Newton. A Greek Orthodox Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on January 30, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who are entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be an hour prior to the services, 1:00pm until service time. Burial will be at 10:00am the following day, in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Newton Salvation Army or Project Awake at the Newton Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. Georgann “Becky” Stanfield, 85, the daughter of Steven and Penelope (Katsuras) Roussos, was born January 27, 1935, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School, Class of 1953, and attended St. Basil’s Greek Teachers College in Garrison, NY. Becky became a laboratory technician for Skiff Medical Center in Newton, after attending the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN. In 1963, Becky was united in marriage with Dwight Stanfield at the The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Des Moines. She and Dwight moved to Brussels, Belgium, and lived there for five years while Dwight was on assignment with the Maytag Corporation. They welcomed two daughters to their family, Barbara Penelope and Andrea Beryl. Becky spent twenty years in Indianapolis as a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife and mother. She was active in the Indianapolis Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and lovingly involved with her daughters’ school and extracurricular activities. She always welcomed her daughters’ friends to the Stanfield home, with food, kindness, laughter and love. In 1989, she and Dwight moved back to Newton. After Dwight’s retirement from Maytag in 1996, they remained in Newton, moving to the Park Centre retirement community in 2010. Becky will be remembered for her kindness to all those she met, her dedication to her family and friends, her quick wit and her love of laughter. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Dwight; her daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara (Jerry) Maher of Indianapolis, IN, and Andrea (Henry) Hall of Riverside, IL; her four grandchildren: Quinn O’Brien, Scarlett Hall, Veda Hall and Henry Hall III; a brother Dean Roussos; a sister-in-law Karen Roussos; and many good neighbors and friends. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Peter Roussos. Online condolences may be left for the family at: www.pencefh.com.
