Sara L. "Sally" Mateer
Sara Louise "Sally" Mateer, age 87, of Katy, Texas, formerly of Newton, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 after a short illness. Mrs. Mateer was born September 21, 1932 in Newton, IA, the daughter of the late Vernon A. Lansrud and Anna L. Lansrud.
Sally married John Harold Mateer on September 20, 1952 at Newton, Iowa. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean war. She was a homemaker, dog breeder and handler, and an active and devout Christian for all her life. Sally is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Borst of Cleveland, TN and brother in law, Max Borst of Cleveland, TN and her three sons: Mark & Ramona Mateer of Katy, TX, John & Tracey Mateer of Orlando, FL, Steven & Judy Mateer of Little Elm, TX, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Sally will be laid to rest with a graveside service at 10:00 AM on January 23rd, 2020 in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton Iowa,
