Velma M. Petty
Velma Mae Petty, passed away on Wednesday, August 7th,. She was a long-time resident of McCann Village in Newton Iowa. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, August 10th at the First Christian Church in Newton. The family will greet friends after with a time of fellowship and lunch at the church. Velma will have a private burial at a later date in Confidence, Iowa. Memorials may be designated to Velma's family or to a charity of your choice.
Velma Mae Petty, 90, was born October 20, 1928, in Wayne County, Iowa to Homer and Julia (Kern) Buttz. She married the late Leonard Petty on May 26, 1946. She devoted her life to her daughters and family. She was a member of the Newton First Christian Church. Velma took many trips in recent years with family to South Dakota and Arizona. She enjoyed quality time with family, socializing and playing cards with friends.
Those left to honor Velma's memory are her daughter Dana (Petty) Outhouse, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and her sisters Vera Peterson and Donna Beal. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Julia Buttz, daughter Gail Stump, sons-in-law Robert Outhouse and Mike Stump; and her two brothers Guy Butts and Roy Butts.
