Doris Jean Lukert, 86, passed away Wednesday morning, May 29, 2019, at Newton Healthcare. Graveside Funeral services for Doris will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2019, at the Union Cemetery, rural Ira. Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to 7th Day Adventist Church, or to a charity of your choosing. Doris, the daughter of Virgil E. Jontz and Sarah L. (Gearhart) Jontz-Whitney, was born September 4, 1932, in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was a graduate of the Central High School in Omaha. On May 4, 1958, Doris was united in marriage with Richard D. Lukert in Omaha, Nebraska. She was employed by Braniff Airlines, retiring in 1985 as a Sales Agent. She had devoted his life to her family and friends. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church and taught Sabbath for several years. She did enjoy traveling, sports and church work. Those left to honor Doris' memory include her many cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather Stanley Whitney; and her husband Richard on Sept. 19, 2012.
