Obituary of Gary Allen Woods

Gary A. Woods

Gary passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2019, at the Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. 

   A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who are entrusted with the arrangements.  Visitation will be 12:30pm until 2pm, prior to the services.  Burial to follow in the Slagel Cemetery rural Newton.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Gary’s family. 

   Gary Allen Woods, 66, the son of Wendall Earl and Jean Germann (Price) Woods, was born July 14, 1952, in Newton.  He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1970.  Gary had served his country as an M.P. during the Vietnam War, at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, with the US Army.

   Gary was employed by Winpower Manufacturing, Moore Tool & Die, the Jasper County Court House and Des Moines Area Community College, Newton, in their maintenance departments.  He enjoyed Sprint car and Indianapolis racing, and was an avid hunter. 

   Gary is survived by his sister Junella (Woods) Skokan; a nephew David (Margie) Skokan; a great nephew Josh Skokan; his aunt Della Lucille Nolin; and many good neighbors and friends,

   Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
