Obituary of Glen W. Oswalt
Glen W. “Ozzie” Oswalt, the son of Harve and Lola Koopman Oswalt was born December 3, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas. On May 29, 1948, Glen was united in marriage to Josephine Joy Burnett in the Veterans Chapel in the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton. Ozzie lived in Colfax, Iowa, but most of his life was in Newton. Ozzie worked most of his life as a salesman and served the community as a fireman. He loved being with family, coaching little league baseball, going on car rides and dancing, listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra and watching old western movies on tv. Ozzie was a member of the VFW Post 1655, American Legion Post 111 and served as Elder at Community of Christ Church.
Glen died on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 91 years old. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, brother Owen Oswalt and grandson Ryan Peters.
Ozzie is survived by his wife Joy Oswalt of Newton, daughters Glenna (Gene) Patterson of Newton and Sharla Oswalt of Newton, five grandchildren Brock (Sara) Patterson, Amber Paylor, DaNae (Michael) Peters, Mia Sinclair and Brice (Kristen) Peters, nine great-grandchildren, brother Phil (Joanne) Oswalt of Newton, sister Phyllis Dito of Newton, nieces, nephews and friends.
