Obituary of Ralph W. Buehler

Ralph W. Buehler, Jr. the son of Ralph W., Sr. and Gertrude (Bauer) Buehler, was born December 8, 1921, in Emmerson, Iowa. Ralph graduated from the Red Oak Senior High School with the class of 1939. On June 11, 1944, Ralph was united in marriage with Virginia Underwood in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ralph worked for Safeway Grocery Stores for 40 years at various locations across Iowa. In 1967, Ralph moved his family to Newton, Iowa. Virginia would precede Ralph in death on March 17, 1984. On February 9, 1985, Ralph was united in marriage with Phyllis Van Severen Ratcliff in Red Oak, Iowa. Ralph was a member of the Newton First Christian Church, the Elks Lodge, and the Newton Noon Kiwanis. Ralph died on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Accura of Newton East. He was 96 years old. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Virginia; his second wife, Phyllis; his brother, Darwin Buehler; his sister, Catheryn Fort; his brothers-in-law, Clinton Smith and Bob Fort; and his sister-in-law, Mona Buehler. Those left to honor Ralph's memory include his daughter, Kay (Bob) Hepker; his sons, Larry (Liz) Buehler and their family, Deidre Buehler and Stacy Buehler and Randy (Vicki) Buehler and their family, Jason (Lindsey) Buehler and their children, Soundra, Cole and Hank and Jeff (Tanya) Buehler and their children, Ryleigh and Bradley; and his sister, Margery Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be designated to the First Christian Church, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Susan G. Komen foundation.
