Louis Lanser, the son of Arie and Jennie (Baarda) Lanser, was born September 19, 1936 in Sully, Iowa.  He graduated from Sully High School with the class of 1954.   Lou met Mildred Rolffs in high school and they were married on September 19, 1957 at the Newton Christian Reformed Church.  Lou worked several occupations.  He was a feed truck driver, a roofer, a farmer and finally in the counter top business.  He was co-owner of L & L Custom Tops for 32 years.  After his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, golfing, puzzle making and his favorite hobby, fishing.  He enjoyed many fishing trips throughout the years with friends and family.  Lou was a member of the Newton Christian Reformed Church for most of his life and had served as an elder and deacon.

Lou suffered a severe stroke in September of 2014 and had been in failing health since then.  Even though he could not talk, he communicated to everyone thru his big smile and sparkling blue eyes.  In 2015, Lou and Millie moved to Vriendschap Village in Pella for assisted living.  In October 2017, he was moved to Jefferson Place in Pella.  His last journey was being carried to Heaven by our Lord and Savior.

Lou died on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Jefferson Place in Pella, Iowa.  He was 81 years old.  Lou was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws; a son, Douglas Laverne Lanser in infancy; a brother, Harry; his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and George Carson and a brother-in-law, Henry Rolffs.
