Obituary of Juanita C. Houser

Graveside funeral services for Juanita C. Houser will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Newton Union Cemetery. Service arrangements have been entrusted to Pence-Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa. Juanita C. Houser, 102, the daughter of Frank W. and Clara Belle (Johnson) Horstman, was born January 29, 1908, in Centerville, Iowa. She was graduated from Mystic High School in Mystic, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Orville W. Houser on May 1, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. Together they lived in Des Moines, California and Newton. Juanita was a homemaker devoted to her family. During WWII, Juanita worked at Automatic Washer in Newton. She loved to cook, bake and travel. Juanita died on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Newton Healthcare Center in Newton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank W. and Clara Belle (Johnson) Horstman, husband Orville W. Houser in September 1972, son Richard J. Houser in June 1966, grandson Richard Carl Houser in May 2007, great-granddaughter Samantha K. Butler in February 1999, two brothers Jerry Horstman and Fred Horstman and two sisters Opal Cavanaugh and Lavonne Hurley. Those left to honor Juanita's memory include two granddaughters Ronda Butler and Jean Duggan (Steve Bailey), great-grandchildren Michael R. Butler (Amanda), Matthew H. Butler (Hollie), Jeremiah T. Duggan (Cassie), Amanda S. Butler (Travis), 12 great-great-grandchildren, great-niece Lisa Harsha and great-nephew Michael Harsha (Chris Trotter). No visitation is planned at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Newton Union Cemetery, 1600 - W. 4th Street N., Newton, with Rev. Eldon Pals, officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton on Tuesday at 11:00 am.
