Marjorie went home to be with her Savior on April 15, 2018, at her home at Park Centre in Newton.
A private interment will occur in the morning followed by a Memorial Service at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Saturday; May 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM. It will be a time to remember and reminisce about Marge's 92 years of life. Join with her family and friends to share her life's journey. In lieu of flowers, give to a charity of your choice in Marge's name. Bring a good story if you have one.
Marjorie M. Vermillion, 92, was born near Beaman, Iowa on July 20, 1925. She was the daughter of Clare Orian Myers and Lulu Eunice (Elliott) Myers. She began school in a rural schoolhouse and later graduated from Beaman High School. She received a Teaching Certificate from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She was the youngest teacher ever hired in Newton at the time. She taught Kindergarten and First grade.
She met and married Bill J. Vermillion in Newton, IA. They were married on Valentines Day, February 14th 1947. She was a devoted mother and more. She socialized with friends, was an avid Bridge player, bowled, golfed, camped and was a den mother for cub scouts. She knitted and sewed. She went boating and she danced with Bill whenever they could. She lived life fully.
Marjorie is survived by her oldest son; Steven J. Vermillion of Chico, CA, and her three grandchildren: Alexander Vermillion, Melissa Vermillion and Brandon Vermillion. There are also four great-grandchildren. They are Micah and Nina, and Austin and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; her sons: Neil and David; a sister Eunice Russell; and her brothers: Keith, Martin, Robert and William.
