Obituary of Gladys Arline Jackson

Gladys Arline Jackson, 90, the daughter of William J. and Amanda Dora (Schmidt) Schumann, was born January 26, 1920 in Jasper County, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1939. She later received her BA of Nursing, from the Los Angeles Community College in California. Having lived in Burbank and Sylmar, California, Gladys was married to Norman L. Jackson on November 19, 1946 in Hollywood, CA. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was employed as a Registered Nurse and was a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Gladys died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother Clarence and a brother Carl; and her sisters: Hilda Bowie, Alta Burkema, and Velma Oliver. Those left to honor Gladys' memory include her many nieces and nephews; and her good neighbor and friends. Calling hours will be Saturday, Following the Memorial Service with a lunch at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 at Newton Union Cemetery, 1600 - W. 4th Street N., Newton. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton.
