John H. Sparks, Jr.

John went home to be with his Savior on November 16, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A time of visitation will start at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2017, with a time of remembrance and celebration of life at 11:00 a.m., at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated to John's family, in his name.

John Henry Sparks, Jr., 72, formerly of Illinois, was born March 22, 1945, in Chicago. He was the son of John H. Sparks, Sr. and Mary (Tobin) Sparks. John was employed in construction as a roofer, moving back to the Newton area in 2015. He devoted his life to his family and friends, and enjoyed life and spending time with them.

John is survived by his son Romell Cochran, Sr.; a grandson Romell Cochran, Jr.; his longtime companion and the mother of his son, Vivian Rose Cochran; and his many good neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
