Obituary of Thomas David Holmes

Thomas “Tommy” David Holmes, the son of Thomas Tucker and Margarett A. (Wilcox) Holmes, was born September 5, 1955 in Newton, IA.  He graduated from the Newton Senior high School with the class of 1974.

On December 27, 1975, Thomas was united in marriage with Carolyn L. Opperud.  To this union two children were born, Jason and Cassey.  Tom devoted his life to running Custom Gutters, auctions and his family.

Thomas was called home on Saturday morning, August 26, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his wife and children.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Tom will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Those left to honor Thomas’ memory include his wife, Carolyn Holmes; his children, Jason Thomas (Chelsea) Holmes and Cassey Jo Holmes; his four grandchildren, Samantha Jo Henning, Joseph Dale Henning, Kaden Dale Holmes and Karter Thomas Holmes; his sisters, Nancy (Joe) Annee, Patricia (Verle “Bud”) Summers and Rosillin (Steve) Sell; his many nieces and nephews and many many close friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.
