William M. Plumb
William "Bill" Plumb went home to be with his Savior on August 18, 2017, at his home in rural Newton, under the care of Hospice.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 11:00a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 21, at the funeral home; burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira. In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, memorials may be designated to Janet Plumb, in Bill's name.
William Milo "Bill" Plumb, 88, was born December 12, 1928, in Ardmore, South Dakota, the son of Van and Thelma (Plumb) Plumb. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1948. Bill had served his country with the United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict.
On January 7, 1950, Bill was united in marriage to Janet L. VanCleave, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Bill was employed by the Maytag Company as a Plumber/Pipefitter for 33 years, retiring in 2007. He also farmed, worked in real estate, had an auctioning service, and owned & managed rental properties. Bill enjoyed his family, farming, raising livestock and fishing. He was a member of the Newton First Assembly of God Church, Moose Lodge, and Newton American Legion Post #111.
Bill is survived by his wife Janet "Jan" Plumb; his children and their families: Linda (Robert) Randazzo, Rita Ham, David (Donna) Plumb, Johnathan (Angie) Plumb, and daughter-in-law Kimberley Plumb, his grandchildren: Rob (Ami) Randazzo, Jana (Courtney) Bower, Soloman Bayles, Nick, Alicia, Bethany Ham, Brooke (Kyle) Swihart, Brittnee (Matthew) Haynie, Kristen (Jake) DeBruin, Kyle Plumb, Amanda (Mark) Hansen, Cainen Plumb, Dylan Plumb and Miles Southern; his great-grandchildren: Zoe, Mia, Lucy, Ricky, Russell, William, Lila, Laney, Rossi, Oliver, Ayden, Bently, Harper, Joel and Noah; his brother Doug Plumb; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son William "Billy" Plumb; a great-grandson Elijah Lewis; his siblings: Larry, Jim, Dick, Bob, Cleo Hoover and Wilda Steel.
