Obituary of Anita G. Jontz

Anita G. Jontz Anita formerly of Baxter, passed from this life on Tuesday morning, February 21, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Anita G. Jontz, 91, was born January 7, 1926 near LeGrand, the daughter of Given C. and Alice (Davis) Johnson. She graduated from Lynnville High School, Class of 1942, and Marshalltown Nursing School, Class of 1948. On September 5, 1950, Anita was united in marriage with Clyde W. Jontz at the Grinnell Friends Church. She and Clyde had lived at the same farm 5 miles east of Baxter, for many years. She was employed as a Registered Nurse. Anita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. In later years she had lived in Hiawatha in 2002 and then Cedar Rapids. Anita is survived by her daughters: Kristin and her husband Rick Stepanek of Grinnell and Kim and her husband Tom Heneke of Spirit Lake; her sons: David and his wife Cheryl Jontz of Cedar Rapids and Douglas and his wife Laura Jontz of Hiawatha; her eight grandchildren; and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde on January 1, 2008; and her brother Bernard Johnson. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with a visitation a half hour, 3:30p.m., prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family in Anita's name or a charity of your choosing.
