William “Bill” Shields
Bill passed from this life on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2017, at his home in Newton.
William “Bill” Shields, 87, was born January 18, 1929, in Newton. The son of Earl Lea and Nadine Martha (Plummer) Shields, he was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School and later from the University of Iowa with a Bachler of Science Degree in Business. Bill had served his country with the US Army, during the Korean Conflict.
On September 26, 1953, Bill was united in marriage with Nancy Ann Bogue in Evanston, Illinois. To this union their daughter and son: Ann R. and John Shields, were born. Bill devoted his life to his family and friends. He enjoyed being an Auctioneer, with his livestock and home estates auction business. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was a member of the local Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church, its Men’s Club and had served as a deacon.
Bill is survived by his wife Nancy Ann Shields; his daughter Ann R. Stevensen of Roseville, CA; sisier-in-law Mary Lou Shields; his nieces; cousins; and his many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by her parents; his son John Shields; brother Carlton Shields; and a sister Barbara Cumming.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left with Bill’s family in his name.
