Obituary of C. Douglas Brown

Charles Douglas Brown, the son of Charles Dwaine and Sharon Ann (Kling) Brown, was born August 25, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. Doug graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1981. While growing up, Doug was involved with Indian Guides, 4-H and the Newton Cadet Police. Doug went on to study acting and technology.
Doug worked in a repertory theatre for many years and was involved in many productions. He then went to work for Radio Shack and served as a Regional Director and Troubleshooter. Doug was a member of the Newton, Iowa Masonic Lodge, No. 59. He enjoyed fishing, reading, writing, his dogs and he could make one mean pot of chili.
Doug died on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his home in Newton. He was 54 years old. Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Those left to honor Doug's memory include his parents, Charlie and Sharon Brown of Newton, IA and his sister, Becky Brown (Douglas Swartz) of Omaha, NE; and his niece and nephews, Kaley, Brandon and Adam.
Services for Doug will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Pence ~ Reese Tribute Center 201 E. 4th Street N. in Newton. Lunch will be served from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a brief memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated in Doug's name to the American Cancer Society or the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society and may be left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
