Virginia Williams, of Newton, passed from this life on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines.
Virginia Grace Williams, 91, was born February 20, 1925, near Ogden, the daughter of John Richard and Charlotte (Bagnall) Williams. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School, Class of 1944. She later attended a Beautician and Cosmetology School.
Virginia was a beautician in the Newton area for over 58 years. She was a loving aunt and friend, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and coin collecting. She was a member of sir optimus, a branch of rotary for women and served as its past president, a member of Peace Makers quilt club and the Newton First Baptist Church.
Virginia is survived by her nephews: Richard (Lana) Williams and Robert Williams; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; her past clients and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Leona Woodruff; and her brothers: Cecil Williams and Ray Williams.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be at a later date, at the Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with a visitation an hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
