Obituary of Betty Lou Wooldridge

Betty L. Wooldridge of Newton, passed from this life on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Skiff Medical Center of Newton. Betty L. Wooldridge,70, was born June 2, 1946, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Doris (Sullivan) Whitacre. She graduated from Davis County High School, Class of 1964, and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On June 4, 1967, Betty was united in marriage with Robert E. Wooldridge, Jr. in Newton. She worked as a Patent Paralegal for the Maytag Company and served as City Clerk for Lambs Grove, Iowa for several years. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She had lived in Colorado Springs and most of her life in Newton. Betty loved her family and enjoyed her sisterhood luncheons with special friends. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and crossword puzzles. Betty is survived by her son, Brian J. (Minnie) Wooldridge of Flagstaff, AZ; her grandchildren: Kylee (Matt Modlin) Woody, Sydney Wooldridge and Jacob Wooldridge; great-grandchildren: Dakota, Ryker and Blakeley; a brother, Jim (Linda) Whitacre of Altoona; and her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert E. Wooldridge, Jr.; and her sister Donna Rausch. A time of remembrance and celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 16th at the Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Betty’s name to: Stand Up 2 Cancer, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing.
